Down on the Suwannee
The Suwannee River starts in Georgia flowing out of the Okefenokee Swamp running unrestrained over
200 miles south and west through north Florida eventually pouring into the Gulf of Mexico at the town
of Suwannee.The river is fed by many springs and rivers large and small as it meanders
past limerock cliffs and white sand beaches. The river is also abundant with wildlife.
On any given day you will see turtles, dragonflies, damselflies, alligators, snakes, and possibly even
jumping sturgeon depending on the part of the river you are paddling. Those are only a few of the types
of creatures you may encounter. Of course the wildlife can be dangerous,
but as long as you do not mess with them they will most likely not cause harm to you.
